Waynetown, Aug 2 - Alonzo N(ewton) Long passed away at his home here Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock after a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in failing health for 7 years. The deceased was born near Celina, Ohio on March 22, 1867 the son of Jonathan and Resetta (Rosetta) Matson Long. He was united in marriage to Mary C. Edwards September 9, 1894. He was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church, the K of P Lodge of New Richmond and the Woodmen Lodge of Hillsboro. Surviving are the wife, one son, Kelsey of Terre Haute; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Rogers of Veedersburg; 3 brothers, Benjamin of Champaign, Ill; William of New Richmond and Arthur of Indianapolis and five grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the Waynetown Christian Church Tuesday afternoon from 3-3:30 o'clock. Services will be at 3:30 in charge of Rev. WH Newlin of Crawfordsville. Burial will be in Waynetown Cemetery. - kbz

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Alonzo N. Long, who passed away after 7 years’ illness from paralysis.  The Rev. WH Newlin of Crawfordsville in his sermon stressed the patience of Mr. Long in his extended illness. Miss Pearl Lidster and Mrs. Ada Myers accompanied by Mrs. EJ Biddle sang three duets. Flower bearers were Miss Phebe Earl and Mesdames JH Munn, George Riley, ST Biddle, LW Roberts, EH Edward, MJ Fruits and Mack Taylor.  Pallbearers were Mrs. Long’s three brother, William, New Richmond; Arthur, Indianapolis and Benjamin Champaign, Ill  Many old friends and neighbors from the localities in which the Long family resided attended the funeral. – kbz
